With the bitter taste of abandonment in the very first kilometers of the race, the VE2 Rally Team crew withdrew from the Viotia Rally. Vasilios and Ioannis Velanis did not have time to enjoy driving behind the wheel of the Skoda Fabia R5 after a mechanical problem deprived them of the opportunity to “accumulate” racing kilometers as part of their preparation for the Acropolis Rally.
“In the first kilometers of the Dafnoula special stage, the central differential of our car suffered a breakdown and it smelled burnt in the cabin, probably due to a material failure. In order not to cause further damage to the car we continued at a very slow pace to exit the stage, stopping at intervals on the side of the road so as not to delay our fellow competitors” were the words of our team driver, Vassilis Velanis, who added: “These things happen in the rallies. We were left with bitterness, as we didn’t do the race kilometers, which was the point. However, this is why we started preparing for our national race early. We thank EMC Motorsport and Lefteris Alygizakis who entrusted us with the car, as well as the team manager, Robert Nahmia”
The VE2Rally Team thanks everyone who was on the mountain and in the service park to support the effort of our crew. The preparation for the Acropolis Rally continues as normal and our next races will be announced soon.
Sponsors of the effort are Singer,Toyotomi,Wakey Wakey,Bergerhouse ofJaw, Technohull and Serkova. On the side of the team will also be Ergorom, Cosmote TV and 4troxoi.
